Argentina awards Iran animation

Raíces International Short Film Festival in Argentina has awarded Iranian animation 'Empty View'.

Directed by Ali Zare-Qanatnowei, the animation won the best short film award at the 2018 edition of the event.

'Empty View' was designed and produced during two years. It combines the 2D and 3D animation techniques for the first time in Iranian cinema on such scale.

The animation feature narrates the story of an old woman looking for the return of her missing son from the battle ground of an imposed war.

So far, the flick has won the best animation award at the UK Monthly Film Festival, Best Animation award from the December edition of the Los Angeles Film Awards in the US, Best Short Film Award at the 6th Seoul Guro International Kids Film Festival in South Korea, and an award at the 8th Amsterdam Film Festival in the Netherlands.

The purpose for the Chivilcoy International Film Festival "Raíces" is the promotion of meaningful cinema, both fiction and documentary, that expresses in their narrative the idea of construction, resignification or alteration of the local identity.
